The Program
School starts March 8, with our founding cohort capped at 25 students.
Once spots fill, we welcome students as places open. Your year starts whenever you join.
Sourcery School is for committed writers ready to root their craft in the human imagination, descend into the realm of myth and dream, and return with the stories only they can tell.
The school pairs the rhythm and rigor of a graduate program with the freedom and experimental spirit of an artist’s residency. Held within an intimate circle of dedicated writers, Sourcery School is radically devoted to the human imagination, at a moment when the creative industries are reckoning with how much of it they’ve traded for speed and scale.
Through monthly study, live practice, and quarterly residencies in Ojai, students learn to court the unconscious and let inspiration arrive before structure, from first draft to final polish.
Source Work teaches writers to go deep instead of fast, reminding them that every story requires a descent into the unknown, and that the journey of the writing process is where a story gets its vitality and wisdom. And here’s the secret: with the right tools and a clear roadmap, going deep becomes its own creative advantage. Writers return with material so alive and coherent that drafting moves quicker, rewrites shrink, and the work resonates far beyond shallower ways of working.
Screenwriters, playwrights, novelists, TV writers, and anyone with a project they’re ready to write from a deeper place. Think of it like a low-residency MFA: you keep a steady practice at home all year, and we come together in person four times. It’s a real commitment, with real return: a creative practice rooted in the human imagination, and a reliable way back to the source of your work whenever you lose the thread.

02Quarterly Residencies
Sourcery School is anchored by four quarterly residencies: immersive trainings in the Source Work method.
These four-day gatherings in Ojai are the cornerstone of the year‑long program, offering a training in the embodied, somatic elements of the Source Work technique. Students deepen their understanding of the practice, learn to enter the imaginal independently and facilitate Deep Source sessions for themselves, and develop the skills to hold space for others and guide them through the process.
This is how the practice becomes a movement. Students leave equipped to carry Source Work into writers’ rooms, film productions, graduate classrooms, and beyond, changing how stories are developed and how the next generation of storytellers is taught.
Hosted at Ojai Retreat & Inn. All four are included in tuition, and the first is February 25 to 28, 2027.
Upcoming ResidencyTuition includes one private session each quarter for story coaching and project incubation. More frequent sessions or deeper support are available at an additional cost.
We’re gathering a founding cohort of 25 students to begin March 8.
Admission is rolling, and spots are limited. Once the cohort is full, we’ll reach out to the waitlist first as places open up.
The best way in is the Source Work Residency, February 25 to 28 in Ojai. Residents are guaranteed a place in the founding cohort, and it counts as the first of your four residencies.
